NIB in Sweden

NIB has been operating in Sweden since 1977, providing approximately EUR 21.3 billion (SEK 243.7 billion) in financing to over 625 projects in the country.

Sweden founded NIB together with the other Nordic countries in 1975. Some of NIB’s latest financed projects in the country include R&D investments for battery electric vehicles, onshore wind farm near Sundsvall and the renewal of PostNord’s fleet and related infrastructure.

In recent years, NIB has especially supported the automotive cluster in Sweden, which includes companies such as Scania, Volvo Cars, SEEL, AstaZero, and RISE. NIB’s loans have funded projects such as electromobility, road safety, and material research.

Looking ahead, we aim to continue to support the green transition and accelerate innovation.
