Towards Norway 2050: Exploring the green renewal

NIB and its Board of Directors invite you to a seminar in Oslo. Join us on Tuesday 23 April, 15:00, at Sommerro, Sommerrogata 1.

You are warmly welcome to this finance seminar on Norway’s green transition to a low emission society by 2050, with a nuanced focus on overcoming the barriers to decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors like industry and transport, while fostering innovation and digitalisation.

Norway aims to become a low-emission society by 2050, targeting a 90–95% cut in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels, as outlined in the Climate Change Act. Supporting this goal, the government seeks a 55% reduction by 2030. Since 1990, while CO2 emissions have increased, other greenhouse gas reductions have resulted in a total emission decrease of 4.6%. The main emission sources are oil and gas extraction, industry, and transport.

This emphasises the enabling role of NIB, owned by the Nordic and Baltic countries, in supporting projects that enhance productivity and environmental sustainability across the region. You can read about NIB in Norway here.

Central to this effort, and with the support of InvestEU in Norway, NIB finances the entire value-chain from renewable energy production to key infrastructure developments such as transmission lines, EV charging, and the electrification of ferries and marine traffic, all of which are essential to Norway’s green transition.

The seminar will explore strategies to overcome the stagnation in renewable energy development and ensure economic growth and sustainability in achieving Norway’s climate goals.

On Tuesday 23 April, 15:00, we seek answers to these and other questions related to financing in Norway. Register below and join us for the discussions.
