NIB-financed MAX IV synchrotron lab launched in Lund

On 21 June, the Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Löfven, inaugurated MAX IV synchrotron light laboratory in the presence of Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf and five hundred guests.

NIB has financed the construction of the laboratory with a long-term SEK 1,500 million (EUR 161 million) loan. The laboratory is located in Lund, southern Sweden, and is leased by Lund University.

MAX IV is the all-time largest investment in research infrastructure in Sweden and an important source of x-rays worldwide. It is equipped to receive more than 2,000 scientists annually.

The laboratory building was certified in accordance with the international BREEAM Outstanding certification requirements for environmentally friendly buildings.
