Project
The loan programme is provided for onlending to housing companies and households to finance investments that contribute to the energy efficiency of apartment buildings and private homes.
The funds for the programme are earmarked for projects that for instance include improvements to the insulation and ventilation of houses, as well as the installation of ground heat systems, heat pumps or solar panels.
Suomen Hypoteekkiyhdistys (Hypo) is a private credit institution specialising in mortgage lending and consumer loans. Headquartered in Helsinki, Hypo currently has around 25,000 customers.
Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
The renovation measures financed under the loan facility are expected to promote more efficient use of energy resources in Finnish households. In the long term, the financed projects are assessed to contribute to the stabilisation of electricity prices.
Investments in energy efficiency measures in residential buildings are anticipated to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by crowding out fossil-based energy generation. The overall potential environmental impact of the facility is as assessed as good.
Sustainability summary
Suomen Hypoteekkiyhdistys will assess the potential environmental and social impacts of the projects financed under the facility in accordance with NIB’s Sustainability Policy and Guidelines.
