Project
Beverage Group AS (Norway) and MC Energy S.A.S (France).
Solera Beverage Group is a leading importer and distributor of imported wine, beer, soft drinks, and other beverages across Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The acquisition is in line with Royal Unibrew’s multi-beverage strategy and significantly strengthens its presence in the Nordics.
MC Energy is a producer of energy drinks, with a 10% share in the fast-growing market in France. Royal Unibrew plans to expand its operations in the country and merge the company into the operations of Etablissements Geyer Fréres, a company which they acquired in 2018 using the previous loan from NIB.
Royal Unibrew A/S produces, markets, sells, and distributes beverages with focus on locally branded products. The company’s main markets are Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Italy, France, Germany and the Baltic countries. Royal Unibrew employs 2,600 people worldwide.
Fulfilment of NIB's mandate
The acquisition of Solera Beverage Group significantly broadens Royal Unibrew’s geographical presence with a diversified product offering. This allows the company to enter the markets of Sweden and Norway to create pan-Nordic operations and realize the scalability of logistics and production processes in the region.
The acquisition of MC Energy is a continuation of Royal Unibrew’s expansion in France. The latest acquisition will be merged into existing French business, further strengthening Royal Unibrew’s position in the market and allowing for potential synergies in terms of production, product distribution, and commercial activities.
Sustainability summary
The acquisitions do not pose any environmental risks. The acquisition of Solera Beverage Group includes a small part of distribution and sales of hard liquor. The share of hard liquor sales is less than 2% of Solera Beverage Group and less than 0.1% of total Royal Unibrew sales.
