Project

The loan facility will finance the construction of a new town hall building and a number of municipal infrastructure projects, including investments in rail, road and bicycle infrastructure.

Construction of the new town hall was completed in spring 2017. The building accommodates 620 employees and is designed for efficient use of working space, in line with the new “activity-based” working standard of the municipality. It will be possible to add two more floors to the building in the future, allowing for more staff to be accommodated.

Further, the loan facility will finance the expansion of double rail tracks along the Roslagsbanan line, which connects Täby to the centre of Stockholm. The expansion of the railroad line is being conducted by SL, the public traffic provider in Stockholm County. The municipality of Täby is purchasing new rolling stock and will install related infrastructure to ensure accessibility and safety.

In addition, the Roslags-Näsby traffic intersection will be upgraded to improve current traffic flow to the E18 motorway and prepare for further expansion. The project will improve access to bus stops and increase safety for pedestrians and cyclists.

Bicycle and pedestrian lanes will also be upgraded and improved in line with the municipal traffic plan for 2014–2030.

The municipality of Täby is located north of Stockholm and considered part of the greater Stockholm area. The municipality has a population of approximately 70,000.

Fulfilment of NIB's mandate

The new town hall has been certified according to the highest level (“Gold”) of the Swedish green building certification system, Miljöbyggnad.

Finalising the construction of double-track railroad between Täby and central Stockholm will increase the frequency of departure and passenger capacity of trains. The improvement of railroad connections is expected to promote a shift from private car to train travel. Noise abatement measures will be installed by the municipality of Täby.

The expansion of the Roslags-Näsby intersection includes two roundabouts, separate lanes for bicycles and pedestrians, and a number of bus stops. The new intersection is expected to improve traffic safety.

The expansion of bicycle and pedestrian lanes in Täby is expected to improve safety and traffic flow, and to increase the number of cyclists.
