Project
The NIB loan totalling SEK 500 million to finance Getinge Group’s acquisition of the British medical technology company Huntleigh Technology PLC will help strengthen Getinge’s business structure and pursue the company’s strategy of growth by acquiring operations in attractive segments. Sweden’s Getinge is a world-leading supplier of medical technical equipment. Product development is a cornerstone of Getinge’s strategy for organic growth. Acquisitions of suitable companies are also a complement to internal product development. The Huntleigh Group is the market leader in all regions outside North America with respect to mattresses that prevent bedsores. In the bed market, Huntleigh is considered to be second in Europe. Within the diagnostics market sector, the company has strong niche positions. Huntleigh’s integration within Getinge Group will create a global leader in patient handling, wound care and hygiene.
Sustainability summary
Based on the findings in the review performed by NIB, no major environmental concerns have been identified. Major parts of Getinge’s operations have already been certified according to ISO 14001 and some of Huntleigh Technology’s facilities have also been certified. The remaining facilities can be expected to be certified in the coming years.
