Ericsson CEO: Europe needs high performance digital infrastructure to be competitive
“I think Europe has a real issue right now, where we run the risk of falling behind in the race on technology that actually drives the economy,” says President & CEO of Ericsson Börje Ekholm. “So we need more investments in digital infrastructure as a foundation for creating a more competitive Europe, as well as financing the green transition.”
In light of its Board of Governors meeting, NIB arranged a “Stronger together – the new geopolitical reality and its impact on the Nordic–Baltic region” seminar to bring together the Bank’s decision-making bodies and distinguished speakers—President of Estonia Alar Karis, Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers Karen Ellemann, President & CEO of Ericsson Börje Ekholm—for discussions.
“The collaboration between Ericsson and the Nordic Investment Bank is very important for our future as a company and for our ability to invest,” said Börje Ekholm in his video address. NIB’s cooperation with Ericsson dates back to the first loan agreement in 1979. To date, the Bank has provided eleven loans to Ericsson in an amount of over EUR 700 million, mainly financing the company’s R&D investments.
